I'm getting sick of e-bay, I have just been bidding on Hilux/Blazer hubs, and was out bid (by a dollar each time) on both sets with only 10 seconds to go (9 in one case).... my computer is just too slow to keep up with frantic, last SECOND bids. Any tips from anyone to help me get these hubs? I cant list in the wanted section on here as i have not got enough postings to allow it yet.....

Bid higher if you ask me. If something is worth having raise the ceiling

Sounds like you are getting "sniped". You can either bid higher, or snipe 'em right back.

ebay bids automatically for you up to your highest bid amount. So you can prevent most attempts at sniping by bidding a bit higher about a minute before your auction ends.

You have to bid higher. your not getting out bid by $1.00, it may be quite a bit more. $1.00 is just the bid increment. so that sniper beat your bid plus the $1.00 bid increment but in reality, the sniper may have bid $10 or $20 more than you.

as for your slow computer connection, try using auctionsniper.com It's cheap and reliable.

What I do when I want to bid on something is first decide how much I want to spend total, with shipping. Then subtract the shipping amount and enter that in as your max bid. And if it goes for more then your max, then o-well. There will be others.

Example: Say I want a Lathe 35T motor and shipping is $5 bucks. The most I want to spend on this is $15, so I put in a max bid of $10. Say the opening bid is $5, it will post it as $5. If somone else bids $6 bucks, it will automaticly push my bid up to $7. This will continue until my max is reached and they other person bids more then that, like $11 bucks.

So, figure out what your max is going to be and bid that amount. And if someone out bids you then they must of had some cash to burn.

As someone that has been active on EBay and other bidding systems for years I would give you two peices of advice.
First the only way to win over the "SNIPER" is to be a sniper. By this I mean... Decide how much YOU are willing to pay for an item... Then wait till the last minute like the rest of the snipers , the place your bid with the bid your willing to pay. If you then win the item your happy because you won the item, if not consider your self lucky you didn't get into a bidding war and wind up paying more than the item is worth or more improtantly .... What YOU deem its worth. Secondly, Like my daddy use to say.... "There will always be another bus along in the future" Who knows you might find the next time your the only one bidding..... regards from speedtone (Bill)

I do exactly as McFig does. If I do not win, there will be others. It is amazing how much people pay for things. Way more then I want to.

I couldnt get to the computer at work, to busy, but i won one of the bids (rear axle with hubs).. out bid on the steering knuckles. Thats ok, at least got two hubs. $71 odd US... should be about $75 Aust. i thought, but the Aussie dollar is slipping at the moment...$85 !! damm international money markets !!! always getting in the way of us Tamiya fans.... lol

All good, I'm happy

with ebay, where there's one, there's more!
If you miss parts on one auction, just go to the next...or the next...
I just put minimum bid on, and if i miss out, just move on to the next one...
