Guys,,,any Idea When A New Semi Truck Will Come Out?

Usually Tamiya is pretty tight lipped about divulging info on their new products. I'd like to hear what people would liek to see?

Another American truck from Freightliner or Peterbilt or another European truck?

Really I would love to see something like a Greyhound Bus, a firetruck or a Tow truck

I think everybody would have to put a tow truck on the wish list, they're just so cool. Not a flatbed, a hook

I would vote for a tow truck also but another conventional straight truck would be nice also.

The tow truck would need to have a functional boom though!

I too, think a working tow truck should be included in the product line! Maybe even a working dump truck but a bus would be nice too. This might be off the subject, but there was a Tamiya bus made by Dickie I believe. It has working head and tail lights along with an opening baggage compartment. Here is a picture.

A working tow truck would be great! I'd also go for a tri axle dump truck.

A tow truck is extremely cool. Hmm when they don't bring it out, we can of course make it a project from a king hauler or so :)
But I have to say that I really hate european busses and trucks. I really love the american style.

Tow Truck With Functioning Boom
Fire Truck With Functioning Ladder

Hows about a New Dump truck, being that Tamiya Discoed the Mammoth...A Revamped Dump Truck maybe ?..Personally I think you would have more uses with a dumptruck than a Fire Truck or Bus...Just My opinion though, some different ideas, none the less :Tamiya1:

Tow truck would be awesome :omg:

How about a 3-speed scale car or Extreme Juggernault/clod? Oh wait those arent' semi's.

omg, a tow truck with a functioning boom would be AWESOME

only problem is it would be like 700$

I've also had the thoughts of making something like that on base of a king hauler. With a clod body, and not a moveable bed. But with ladders to come up on the bed. Looks very great.

If it were to be a modern truck I would prefer a tow truck, like the one Shodog posted a picture of.

But, what I would really prefer is an old truck, say a 50's or 60's semi. European or American would not matter as any old school semi would be a great addition to the current product line. Why not a old tow truck?

I have to admit that trucks from the 50's and 60's looks very very great. And it's not so mainstream, also a big +

bobtail74
10-01-2007, 09:37 AM
I think a tandem dump would be cool.
If not then maybe a Kenworth Aerodyne style to go with the Ford Aeromax or anything modern.
I agree a towtruck would be awesome but I also agree the cost may be prohibitive.

I think with the CMT show "Trick My Truck" we could get a real resurgence in popularity! Imagine what could happen if Tamiya would produce a TV commercial and have it aired during that specific show!

Bus
Firetruck
towtruck

I'd also like to see some new trailers!

This thing just pegs the ugly-meter, so I had to build it

I'm thinking a 50's or 60's semi would be the best bet for the next truck. What I would really like to see is something like a concept semi truck, like this:

A dump truck would be a great idea but the cost would severly hamper the production. Hydraulics would be out of the question so your left with a screw drive dump mechanism, motor, gear reduction ect......very costly for a company that would like to keep the price down. Easily cured problem by creating your own with any standard tamiya truck. It's a fun build and this way you can have a metal dump bed, true hydraulics and even a lift axle.

I'd go for the military theme. And request Tamiya consider changing the scale of their tanks to complement the 1:14 military semis. A whole new series of vehicles could be produced as a result. Half-tracks, MPCs, Unimogs, Jeeps, Land Rovers, who knows, maybe even mechanised military bridges?

Do you guys think there'll be a ready fan-base for such a series of RC vehicles?

i'd love to see them release a set of trucks and call it "The American Series" or something. Have an actual Pete (359 or a 379 either ons would be cool), a freightliner, a mack and a Kenworth W900L. All conventionals.

That would be fantastic.

Personally give me a US fire truck maybe an aerial ladder with working lights water pump etc, how cool would that be.

Failing that a heavy euro tractor unit, twin steer and twin drive with trailer hitch, basically the works.

mrfish55
01-06-2008, 06:32 PM
I hear ya about the fire truck, got tired of waiting thats why I am building my own. My best guess is you will never see a commercially available ladder truck as it is very costly and labour intensive to build.

hi all
well i would like to see them make another rigid. like the mercedes 1850, but with a tipper back and maybe a fake hiab crane (we see loads of them like this over here in europe.) . that would give us the chance to power the tipper, as most of us use 4 channel anyway and if ur clever u would be able to mod the crane to work.....i'd love an hydrolic one a company in germany makes them but they are just too far out of my price band!!!

just my thoughts

If they ever came out with a exact replica of the Freightliner FLD 120 with a 70" condo sleeper and full side fairings, I'd be first in line to get one regardless of cost. Plus if they actually came out with a replica of a 53' Utility trailer with a Thermo King unit, I'd be hooked to the hobby for good and never go back to trains.
