Ok, I feel like a nut! I can not figure out how to install the Hop Up Aluminum Rear Wheels on the Tanker Trailer. I am on Step 15, Page 9 of the Tanker Trailer 56303 and I have the optional Aluminum Wheels Part Number 56509. The problem is that I can not figure out why they do not have a Hex receiver like the plastic ones. So, how do you tighten the BH3 Flanged Lock Nut to the BH1 Wheel Hub without the tire spinning? Any tricks or tips? Thanks!

I have attached a picture to help explain my issue. In the photo, I have the rear wheel upside down and the wheel hub next to it.

Your supose to hook this aloy rim on to a inner stock rim with room for the hex.
The alu rims from Tamiya is only for the outer wheel.

The alloy rims just replace the stock outher rim, not the inner rim.

Newbe me! The truck building is new to me, thank you for the professional advice. Makes sense now, I have heard many say they do not like the aluminum rims, why?

Hello those aluminum wheels have to be screwed to a "tamiya factory plastic back wheel" and used as a dualie. The back wheel has the hex adapter. I just finished building the box trailer with the aluminum wheels they'll look great.

hi
i have to be honest, i prefer the Topcad wheel sets. they replace the whole rim set and i think look great, they are cheaper than the tamiya one's too.
i have them on my silver merc in the gallery

Can you post a closer picture of the rims and do you have a link?

sorry i dont really have a closer pic, but the pic's are bigger in the gallery http://tamiya3speed.com/photoplog/index.php?q=n
there are also a couple of pics of my hi-lift, i have Topcad rims on that too, they bolt on to hubs that are supplied with the rims, they give you diffrent thickness ones for giving a wider wheel-base. oh and the truck rims can come in gun-metal too!

i dont have a direct link to topcads site (try google maybe) but i bought them from here :

I researched the wheels carefully and finally decided on the Stellamodels' version. Here's why. First, if you go to the stellamodels.com site (not eBay) they are cheaper and come in complete sets for the tractors and the trailers. They replace both inside and outside wheels vs. just the outside like Tamiya. Also, and more importantly, I thought they just looked better and more realistic as they have 9 bolts vs 6 like some others (life sized tractors I think have 10 bolts). Since my Knight Hauler is not yet built (waiting to paint) I have included a photo of just the wheel. Hope this helps.

here's a tip to 'assembling' the dual rear rims (topcad or 3racing) to the truck...

1) attach both rims, fit wheel nut but NOT TIGHT. Leave it loose enough to allow both rims to move a little.
2) using 3 screws, screw the inner and outer rim together, with the 3 screws spaced evenly around the centre.
3) tighten the wheel nut, then remove the three screws.
4) fit hubcap and all nine screws.

If you fit both rims and tighten the wheel nut first, then some of the screws dont line up well.

cheers!!
