Iam having problems shifting my tamiya king hauler. I have to hold stick to keep it in gear if i dont it will pop out of gear iam wondering what to do.Iam a noob to building rcs.

Your supose to hold the stick in the gear you wanna run.

trucker, I suppose you are talking about neutral and when you stop the truck in first or third gear? What happes is that the transmitter stick self centres, thus engaging second gear every time you let go of the stick.

You need not to hold the stick in gear. I do not. Most of us start out with an aircraft transmitter on a frequency legal for ground use. Aircraft transmitters do not have a springloaded throttle stick that self centres when released.

What I, and many others too, did was to open up the transmitter (the problem is not with the truck) and take the spring that centres the gear channel (left stick, X-axis) and place it on the throttle channel (left stick, Y-axis). That way the throttle self centres when the stick is released but the geabox does not automatically jump into second gear each time I release the stick.
