New guy here, thanks for looking.

I recently dug out of my basement an old Tamiya Toyota 4x4 which was given to me by a friend about 10-12 years ago. The electronics all work and I'm playing with it to see if I cna get it fully operational. I know its one of the older 3 speed Tamiyas but I'm curious as to which generation of development it is.

Most of models I've seen on EBay are using the smaller 1200-1500mah battery packs, those that do use the 4000mah packs seem to have them centrally mounted betwen the axles (aka Bruiser for example). Mine has the battery pack mounted way the heck at the back of the truck inside what seems to be a more or less weatherproof case. I did find the kit referenced on Tamiya's website as kit number 58028, the photo appears to be exactly the model I have (linked below). Can anyone tell me anything about this kit? What stage of development it was for Tamiya for example? I'm inclined to think this may be a very early kit, possibly the first generation of development becuase of the poor layout of the truck, with the battery all the way out back it totally kills the weight distribution and presumably the thing handles like a pig.

What about performance in general? Near as I cna tell this is at or near 100% stock parts and apart from dust it has lery little wear and tear...most of the wear seems to be paint worn off the brushbar for example where the prior owner used to carry it by. How cna I tell if any of the mechanical parts are worn out? Like the u-joints for example?

Lastly, the obviously greedy question...does this kit have a potentially significant value to it as all original and working or not really? I've seen some bruiser chassis on ebay going for around $600-700 all cleaned up, but without any controller or top.

Thanks very much for your time.
