My Ford Aeromax runs great for the most part, however it is very difficult to get the truck to "creep" especially in reverse. It seems that the minimum speed is too fast which makes it difficult to do precision maneuvers. Most time I will have to put it in high gear to get it to move more slowly for a short distance. Could this be my speed controler?

Yes, what ESC do you have in it?

It is a durutrax

I didn't think the duratrax's had delays on them.

Does it seem like it does nothing when you first go into reverse and then it jumps or does it go only in one speed in reverse?

Get a ESC for crawling.Problem solved, not being a wise guy but they are made for slow precise maneuvers.

Yes, there is a short delay before revers kicks in (litterally!). When I built this trucj the multi-function control unit was not available. I have the light kit. I wonder if I upgrade to the multi-function control unit so I have sound and the vibration features if the built in speed control will work better than what I have.

Well, the MFU will definatly work better then your current ESC.

The delay makes it difficult to reverse smoothly. Try this: bearly push your remote into reverse and hold it there until the truck starts moving backwards.

I'm guessing you will find that due to the delay you were pushing your remote farther in reverse so when it did kick in you were at half throtle or so.

I've had similar 'problems' with a few esc's...
one had a 5 second delay before reverse would kick in,
another went almost flat out or nothing in reverse..

if you can, get hold of a normal Tamiya esc (TEU-101). I've found these to be very good for slow speed, both forward and reverse.
The MFC is just as gentle as the TEU101.....
