Hi,

Link to pics of my R620 with Reefer trailer.
http://ustrain.gotdns.org/

Make a little bit of modification on the trailer, move the "pin" back a bit on the trailer so when it connects with the tractor, space between the tractor and trailer is not too big.

Regarding the LED, I purchase LED from the following site, they are very thin, good for trailer.

I also working on wireless trailer light. I just got my self a 8 channel RF remote control for www.canakit.com. Now working on interface to the MFU. Hope to finish in a week or 2.

kewl, im interested in this, a write up would be nice as what you bought and how you did it. thanks.

I bought a 8 Channel RF remote control kit from canakit.com, $60 + Taxes.

Then I made a interface to let the MFU signal the Controller. If you know electronic, it is better.

I post the PCB on my web. Goto www.expresspcb.com to down the software, it is free.

Voltage use for the trailer PCB, it all depends on what type of LED you are using.

Guys, I decided to try ncex888's set-up on my Ford Aeromax and Box Trailer set-up. I am no electronics expert and have the most basic of understanding of electronic circuits, but I found what ncex888 posted to be real easy to follow. NCEX888 responded to all my e-mail questions within a day or two and was extremely helpful in resolving any issues I may have had. Everything is working just as in the posted videos. The only thing left for me to do now is to adjust wire lengths and my set-up will be complete.

If you are really interested in a wireless trailer light set-up, I suggest you get to your local electronics store and start purchasing the components shown on the PC boards ncex888 posted and get soldering. This is a project that is well worth the time, effort and investment.

Hi,

The server of the website has been removed. (http://ustrain.gotdns.org).

The company that sell the LED has changed the link, the updated link is:

Can you upload the pics and info somewhere else?, you can add pics to the gallery here. There are some of us that did not see the stuff on that link that would like to enjoy them.

I updated the LED link in 1st post

Thanks,
Joe

Hi,

I uploaded the pics to the gallery. Under album Scania R620. I made the gallery public as well, so everyone should able to see it.

Hey ya'll
I am new here, and have a question. I bought a King Hauler, and the Box trailer and for 10 years have been slowly modifying it. Nothing too extreme, just the lighted bumpers (Garden Trucking), and all the Tamiya truck hop-ups. Now I see you guys have me beat by a long shot!! Now my question, I'm not electrically inclined, so what is a SIMPLE way to put all those lights on my trailer? I'd like to keep it as much Tamiya as possible. Even by using an on-off switch hid underneath I'd be tickled to death. Also, when I try to switch from the horn mode, to drop my landing gear, it doesn't work. Any ideas?

Thanks, I was hoping to see shots of the way you had it wired up and the PCB, any chance in that?

Thanks

I posted more photo of the PCB wiring ...

Reply to trucknut:
Order those LED list in the very first post. Each set come with 16 LED, cost around $10 to $12. You will need a bit of soldering. You will get 4 strips, and each one has 4 LEDs. I cut them up the individual, and reconnect them by soldering electrical wire between them. In order to get the look, I drill a 1/8" hole, then place the LED inside the trailer (you can use double sided tape to secure it), then on the out side. I use the side of CD case. The side has some pattern on it, it make the light diffuse a bit.

Hope this help... :)

There is a slight draw back on the wireless trailer system, there is some delay in this kit. around 300ms. This one use Radio Frequency (RF).

So, I am now getting parts to work on an IR system. Just see if it has less delay.

Will keep this post update...

Am I correct in seeing there are 2 PCb's besides the MFU and RF unit? Can we get more info on those PCB's?

The 2nd PCB is just for the extra light on the truck, nothing to do with the Wireless control unit.
I posted the PCB (copper side and component side) in the gallery.
