Hey guys, My name is Brandon and i've all ways been into rc cars and trucks but never really got technical with them.
I"m looking into getting the Highlift f350 and I'm not for sure about how many channels i need.
I"m going to go crazy on this, so bare with me.
I want to be able to switch from 2wd to 4wd, lock the front, and rear diff. sometime i would like to get a winch too.
so would i need a 7channel radio?
1. steering
2. throttle
3. 3speed trans (3 position switch)
4. 2wd to 4wd
5. front diff
6. rear diff
7. winch (3 position switch)
this is the radio i'm looking at http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGAE9**&P=0
any advise would do.
thank ya, Brandon.

Are you planning on installing the MFC-02 unit?

Like jdk9997 said, are you planning on installing the MFC unit? If so, you need a 4 channel just for that.
If not, then you only need a three channel for normal truck operation. Third channel will need to have 3 positions.
On the other stuff. How are you planning to switch between 2wd and 4wd? Also, locking the diffs? On the winch are you going to make one from a servo or are you going to get one from rc4wd or 3racing?

thanks for the responses.
no MFC.
there will be a servo for each. the 2wdto4wd, front diff, rear diff. so i'm that would be 5servos? (stirring,trans,2wdto4wd, front diff, rear diff.
the winch will be from rc4wd.
these will be the mods i will be performing. just a seperate sever for each operation.

If you get the wireless winch from rc4wd then you only need 6 channels
If not the wireless, then you need 7 channels.
Left stick up/down = forward/reverse
Left stick left/right = transmission(3 speed)
Right stick left/right = steering
Right stick up/down = winch
2 position switch = 2wd/4wd
2 position switch = front diff
2 position switch = rear diff
If you did the wireless winch then your right stick up/down can be one of your diffs or the 2/4

A little update. I got my truck and got it all together. I went with the spektrum dx7 (wow, what a radio).
the dx7 has a 3 position switch and makes it perfect for the 3speed. I had no problem syncing the spektrum receiver with a novak rooster esc.
And thanks agian for the advice. Once i get this all paid for ill start buying parts to set up the diffs. the 4wd to 2wd is going to be exspinsive, since i'm going to have the local machine shop make me some gears and shafts. once they are done I will be for sure to post pictures.
