This mod moves the motor off to the side, allowing you to raise the tranny for more ground clearance without cutting a hole in the hood.

1/8 inch aluminum, cut with a recipro saw, drill, and Dremel tool.

The motor sits pretty close to the gears, but doesn't hit anything. You will have to hack up the case, and seal up the gap with silicone to keep dirt out. You'll also lose the cross-braces inside the tranny.

Loads of ground clearance now. The flash washed out the tape measure, but it's a tick over 3 inches under the skidplate now. Far better than before.

I like what you've done there, could you show pic's of the set fitted from the left hand side. It looks like there won't be much of a cover.

I'm not sure if I took a pic or not, I'll have to look. There's not much of the left-side cover left, but it seals up with enough silicone goop.
