Well this isn't mine, It belongs to Matt, aka Jugg2Driver, the owner of Scale4x4rc and this is the offical truck of scale4x4rc. Other than the small details like the emblems and site logo, the rest is all paint. I hand drew the flames and hand cut the stencil for the Ford emblem.

First I drew out many designs and discussed it with Jugg. We settled on this design.

and here is how it turned out.

And if you looked at the RC4wd Mud Slinger 1.9 tires, you probably seen it on their site.

Very nice! What kind of wheels are those? Is the outer blue edge of the wheel powder coated or painted?

Looks great, all done by masking?

Model Master paints.

is that so? lol

Looks great, all done by masking?

Yes. After I sprayed the orange and black, I cut some stips of masking tape down really narrow and laid the flames out with that, then covered off the rest with wide tape.

For the Ford oval, I snagged a pic file from the parts computer catalog at work (ford dealer) and printed it to size at home on paper, laminated that paper. then covered in it the same wide tape tracing the design with an exacto and finially transfering to the body. it was tedious (sp?) work. But came out great.

For more detail on how it was painted, check out the thread on it on Scale4x4rc

Great, no problems with any upstanding edges? Or polished it all after painting?

Very nice, you did a great painting job, a lot of patience I know.
I have been using Model Master since ten years now, I have few questions:

-Did you have to wait several days among layers?. Mine needs one week just to mask, the paint remains sticky, which doesn’t happen with Tamiya enamels ( I love them!!!!! but little fragile for RC)

-I was wondering if you used some clearcotaing, I saw your step by step and you say you polished the paint. I just could do that with MM after months!!!

Model Master are great paints, but hard to be applied, they have a tendency to bring out orange peel, the dilution and environment temperature have to be very precise or I have to use a retarder (just white spirit instead the regular thinner), how you dealt with this.

Below an example how I painted with MM

Congrats again and thanks for your time reading this.

that is nice. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, I did not see it.

Anyhow, I didn't have much problems. I removed the masking only minutes after spraying the paint. That way the paint wouldnt bond to the body and tape. that makes it hard to remove and can even peel off the paint from the body.

I did wait between layers soom, basicly for it to tack up, then sprayed again. If I was about to switch to another color and needed masking, I'd wait 1-2 days inbetween.

I used the MM clear on it, about 6 coats or so I believe. I wet sanded with 1500 and 2000 grit paper after it dryed a few days then polished it out with automotive paint polish and waxed it then. I didn't care much for the MM clear. I found another I used I picked up at the hardware store. Big rattle can that was store brand. tried it out and man that stuff is great. It dries much harder than the MM and can be sanded out to a mirror finish.

But for the enviroment, I didn't have any issues. I paint in my basement and it's always cool and humid. which is bad for paint but I ain't had much trouble yet. Never needed to thin the paint either.

there is enough clear on it that it polished out. There is still some, but it's very minimal. Had I found this new clear I'm using at that time, there would be none.
