I have had this collection of Blingy parts http://www.tamiyaclub.com/showroom_model.asp?cid=56509&id=34 for some time now and finally I have had a chance to start on it. Since the chassis is the easiest to build, I like to work out of order. First order of business was to build the wheels.

http://www.tcphotos.com/getuserimage.asp?t=n&id=img34_08102007012258_2.jpg

I used a set of RC4WD/RPP Hobby special edition bead lock wheels. Shorn with a set of Proline Moab tires.

Next was the Transmission housing. My intention was to paint it with the PS48 gloss aluminum then spray the clear blue over it but once I sprayed the PS48, I really liked the resutling color so I left it at that. It looks similar to the color of the brush guard and hub covers

Thanks guys. Next, on to the body mods. I plugged up the antenna hole using a pice of the sprue that connect the front and rear body together.

I used Plasticweld liquid glue to secure it in. this glue melts the plastic between the two parts to form a super strong bond

I then used Bondo glazing putty to fill the cracky's

Time to cut a hole. I am going to install a supercharged motor top from a Muscle Machines die cast car. I made a template and transferred the image to the hood of the truck.

You can also see how nice the attena hole patch came out.

I used a dremel with a cutting wheel to hog out the hole then finished it up with a sanding drum.

Now for a test fit

Yesterday the weather sucked so i decided not to start on the paint. Too much humidity and your paint job will turn out like :frusty:. So instead I polished out the Junfac frame. It's made of High quality aluminum so polishing it was a breeze.

As for the RC4WD axles, I think they are clear annodized as they just would not polish. They look good as they stand but they would look so much better polished out. I am going to see if I can get my buddy to strip the annodizing for me. I know you can use oven cleaner to do it, but my buddy has a proces that won't attack the metal.

Small world. I remember you stated in your auction that you hated all the bolts but I didn't find them to be too much of a hasslehoff.

Not much has transpired on this ride. when the Hilux was announced idecided to save everything for it. Now that truck is sitting idle also because there ar just too many things competeing for my time. work, yard work and dirt bike riding. eventually I want to get everything finished up.

As for the MFU and the junfac chassis. I found that they didn't work well together. it can be done but there is no good way to bolt the speaker box in. in the end I decided against the chassis for my hilux as the rear body mount and Junfac chassis are not compatible without modifications

so far here is my hilux chassis
