Knowing that the chassis will be a dual solid axle, what would be the next scale body of your choice?
post some pics if you wish, you never know what might happen? :Tamiya1:

I think a Jeep needs to be done, although I'm sure Chrysler won't let that happen.
Land Rover Defender please! Or new crew cab Hilux / L200 :-)

You can't go wrong with any of the older Broncos, Blazers, Scouts, Power Wagons or Landcruiser FJ series. How about a Unimog?

2008 ford 350 CREW cab. short bed.
the new ford super dutys have a little bit different look. also there are alot of people that have been making crew cabs on there own and they look great made from a high lift. on the road you see alot more crew cabs than stadard. you could even make it a dually.
a guy on scale4x4rc built this truck. it looks amazing!!!!!

An easy release would be the high lift chassis with the Wrangler body. They would have to majorly shorten it down the chassis though

Just curious about this. Why do you say that? Is Chrysler really specific about models of jeeps?

Maybe a Jeep, the Wrangler Unlimited based TK pickup projekt, or a Grand Cherokee WJ, Dodge Ram in real 1/10 scale, a 'Yota Tundre ext. or double cab, LR Defender 110 or 130, there are so much nice offroaders.

That would be cool, I'd love to see Tamiya do an original Bronco. Ford already licensed Tamiya for the F350, they might for a Bronco too.

I guess Tamiya will not develop other expensive 1/10-1/12 body for the same chassis.
HOWEVER if we ask for a new tooled Chevy or Bruiser or even a Hummer, we could be surprissed about Tamiya hearing us.
I built a Hilift chassis with a Clod body, little work, and I sold it because a good offer. But it would be nice to have a version of the Hilift with an upgraded Clod body, plenty of new bits like the new Hilux.
This could be done by Tamiya with not much investment and I guess each modeler will want one of them. In fact I'm almost sure that such beautiful body will be soon on a 3 speed chassis.

:first: NIce looking truck! A newer body style GM truck would look better. The Clod body is getting a little old compared to the trucks Tamiya is producing now.
That Tundra looks pretty good. A revised GM truck may also be a good idea since the Clod looks so dated.

I guess that the new Hilift Hilux is older than the Chevy Clod. Tamita could do, with very little effort a Silverado or something like that.
I will add myself with 2 pieces, how many will you guys would buy?
Probably one or maybe two New Mounties. Since Tamiya has discontinued the dump truck why not use that as the next highlift with a movable bed using the 4th channel?

Supra wonders....
Would Tamiya do a Clod or Blazin Blazer because there is currently tooling and molds? But at the same time, Tamiya seems to have difficulty with licencing from Chevy. A Chevy fits in with Tamiya's current trend of repro cars.
Ford seems to be the easiest to get licences from. Statistically, Tamiya has made a large percentage of ford vehicles, as opposed to any other American manufacturer. If Tamiya makes another High Lift series vehicle, they would have to make new molds, which is a step aside from thier current trend of repro vehicles.
On the other hand, Tamiya has been listening (some) to the market. After all of the petitions and e-mails, they released another Toyota P/U in the image of the Mounty. If Tamiya is listening, would they make something we all want?
Thorsteenster
11-12-2007, 10:09 AM
No way it will be a Jeep. Chrysler won't let Tamiya produce em, thats why the re-Willys grill slats are horizontal vs the originals vertical slats like the real Jeep.
Or maybe Tamiya isn't willing to pay what Chrysler wants to produce Jeep bodies.

Thorsteenster, I know that FG (large scale gassers) opted for licensing Jeep/Hummer bodys since they were cheaper than Volkswagen (thus discontiuing the ever popular Beetle), so who knows?
Personally, I would love to see a Land Rover Defender from Tamiya.:yourock:
If it were to be an American car I would prefer a Ford Bronco or 50's Chevy 3100.

I think we are missing the point on this.
If we really think Tamiya will do a new mould that could cost a little fortune just to place the same chassis, then OK we should go on and ask for Dodge Ram...or whatever we want. I personally would like to see A land Rover or Dodge pickup, terrific.
BUT (always there is a but is the life, sorry) the point is that if we ask for something reasonable then probably Tamiya will do the thing.
The 2006 Highlift was NOT a new body, Tamiya used the old Juggy with little improvings.
NOW other cheap development, the improved Hilux in the Mountaineer version.
SO friends we have to be realistic here, Do you want other nice box to collect with a 3 speed truck inside?, if the answer is YES, then push on realistic options.
I only see the Super clod body (without any badge and some little changes because the copyrights) with improved parts (beautiful)
The Wrangler Jeep (short for my linking) again with changes and avoiding the Jeep name.
Or a improved Hummer (I don't like but the body is there)
The modeling world is under a big pressure, the hydrocarbons have increase the price and this affect the profit of such large companies, shipping costs to distributors and in general speaking the depressed economy will not be easy we have a new superlong ABS body, perhaps and with a lot of luck a retooled from an old mould, WHICH is good enough for me.

My preferences (some may require a shortened chassis):
Jeep Wrangler
Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (4 Door Version)
Honda CRV (The New Body Style)
80s Bronco Hardtop !
'50's Dodge Power Wagon (Favourite)
Come on Tamiya help a desperate guy out. I already bought 2 F350 High Lifts & 2 Toyota Hilux Kits ! You know if I love 'em that much I'll take out a second mortgage ! Why ? The Hard Bodies of course !

The Hilux was my first choice, but now I hope we get a Clod bodied High lift with no blower or sunroof.
After received the New Hilux I realized how beautiful the new body is. Tamiya took the best of the Hilux adding a lot of tiny and huge new bits and the new body is the best I saw since 1983, when I hade my first Tamiya RC ( I'm taking about 1/10 trucks/pickups).
Seeing the body close to the clod I have, I began to think what beautiful could do the same with the Clod body, although whitout Chev badge.
We would have the 3 better bodies improved, Jugg-Hilift; Mounty-Hilux; Clod - super super clod. ;-)

I'm with the Toyota guys! Except it wouldn't be an FJ40 (too short!), it would be a choice of a HJ45 drop side ute or a HJ60 Wagon. It'll probably never happen but it's nice to dream:Tamiya1:
I'd also like to see the chassis rails retooled to resemble a scale chassis like the vintage 3 speeds.

I'd like to see a Dodge M37 or Power Wagon (the M37 is the military version). A preffered year would be 50's for the M37 and 50's to 70's in the Power Wagon.
An 80's Dodge W150 would be cool, too. Off subject; I'd like to see a M35A2 based off the semi chassis; I'm currently building one off a Knight Hauler chassis, but I think Tamiya could make an awesome kit with it. Why these vehicles? Cause I want mini versions of my 1:1 vehicles.

Don't believe I'm little obsessed with the Clod thing
Here few pictures where the folks at Tamiya could work and improve the body to be placed in the Highlift chassis.
Also of course they should look for a new atmosphere and motif, as well as a paintingjob.

wow I've been away from here for a few months, I already see some bronco requests, I have been building a 1980 Ford Bronco body for quite some time using exisiting Tamiya beater bodies I had around. So yes I think a bronco is a good choice given that Tamiya has done several Fords with popular models.

Tamiya has made older Chevys (Clodbuster) and really old Fords (Midnight Pumpkin) a couple of Jeeps (Wild Willy/WW2 and XC-01) and a handful of Toyotas - but no Land Rover Defender. I would say a long wheel base Defender should be high in demand.
