i am considering making a 6x6 from a tamiya semi kit. anyone have information about this. i have seen a couple of german sites that have narrowed tlt axles for semi front ends, but the sites are in german and the price is real high. i saw one made from carson.
two things i am looking for:
1)width of a tlt axle with inner rear semi wheel on it (and if it will still turn left to right)
2)width of standard semi front axle with front wheels on it.
i firgure the tlt will be a little wider but i don't know how much. i am afraid it will stick out and look weird.
thanks

Hello,
I'm (slowly) building my Mercedes 8x8x4, this is a poser pics
http://oldtamiya.interfree.it/projects/mercedes8x8/mercedes8x8_06.jpg
On front I'm using 2 rear axles that I'm modifying for steering
I had to cut axle cases to narrow them and use TA02 uprights
http://oldtamiya.interfree.it/projects/mercedes8x8/mercedes8x8_11.jpg
I made custom adapters to fit TA02 dogbones heads
http://oldtamiya.interfree.it/projects/mercedes8x8/mercedes8x8_12.jpg
All I still have to do is aluminium plates that holds TA02 uprights

This axle is applicable for the use in all heavy duty and construction site vehicles.
It's been build using authentic Tamiya parts and it can therefore be used in all 3-Speed Tamiya trucks in conjunction
with this additional part :
http://www.carson-modelsport.de/de/modelle/truckmodelle/zubehoer/rtp/907001/produktdetails.htm
(will be mounted directly to the 3speed transmission)
The driveshaft uses ball bearings and comes already assembled
Hope this helps :)
They sell them in my old home town. So if someone needs those parts send me a PM and I can try to find out what the price is etc. and then you can PayPal me the money and I send my parents on a mission :)
I can ask them if they ship the directly to me (I am living in the UK now) but I doubt it ...(worth to ask anyway).
Let me know :)
ps: Ey, its Monday - so don't bitch about spelling and grammar :)
Edit:
Yikes, the axle is 215.95 EUR and that 5:1 thing (don't know the English word to be honest) is 182.50 EUR (which is currently sold out)
So
215.95 EUR = $ 306 = £ 150
182.50 EUR = $ 258 = £ 126
A bit pricey ey ..
