Can someone let me know what is going on? It seems that Tamiya had decided to use that surfer body that doesn't even fit the chassis. If it doesn't fit that well I'd rather have the orginal Mounty body. :frusty:

1. Can we buy the Orginal Mounty body in the states?
2. So we are not getting the re-release mounty body set?

Thanks in advance.

Lets get our stories straight please.

Tamiya is releasing a Toyota Hilux Highlift

There is no Re-Rekease

I'd rather be a millionaire!

From what I have read, the re-release mountaineer body sets were only sold at a toy fair in Japan. I have never heard of anyone ordering one from Tamiya USA

Thanks, I really thought Tamiya had decided to use the orginal Mountaineer body for the High lift. Oh well, that really lost my interest.

Well, it's still technically somewhat the original body. I've been told its just a re-tooling of the original mold. So in theory, no new mold = not a new body = original Mountaineer body (?)

Thought people are saying it is a one piece now instead of bed and cab?

If it was orginal, like shown at the fair I must have it to accompany the old Mounty as a collection. Now it seems to be a sister car to the F350 . It's an ok truck but I'm a little down on Tamiya's decision to not release the old vintage look.

Same body, now one piece.

If I remember the Mountaineer and Bruiser had two piece bodies which were screwed together. The "cab" section of the Mountaineer and Bruiser were the same and the difference was the bed. While the original Hlilux and Blazing Blazer were one piece molds. I think the new Hilux looks great and is begging for 2.2 beadlocks and Moabs, but that is me.

The original Hilux was two piece. The only one piece original 3 speed was the Blazer. The new body is the same body but done in one piece.

I bought the re release body off ebay. It is Identical to the original Mountaineer body. I think the new Hilux release body will be the same except for: 1) A hole on the passenger side as well as the driver side for the rearview mirror (which is differnet from the original Mountaineer) 2) The new Hilux will have a piece of plastic to cover up the on/off switch that protruded through the bed of the original Mountaineer 3) the body will be two piece like the original. The rerelease body I bought off ebay from Japan came with a mounting kit to mount it to the F 350 Hi Lift kit. The mounting points are identical to the original Mountaineer kit.
