Have any of you ever put grease in the axles? Starting to overhaul a Blazer and found the rear axle full of grease. WHAT A MESS!!! Guy who had it sure did not have a clue about how it should go together! All kind of things in the wrong place or missing altogether.

I always load it up pretty good around the ring and pinion gears

I believe when I was building a hi-lift for a show last year the instructions called for the white cermaic grease to be applied to the metal gears. Some people really goop it in there (have you ever taken apart one of our RTR vehicles? It looks like a grease bomb exploded in there) =D

The more grease the less room for water

The grease was everywhere not just around the gears(I put the white grease there). Besides it was a very thick brown grease not the Tamiya white grease.

It might have been white when it was put in there. 20 year old brown greas very well may have been white once upon a time.

I doubt it as the grease is very sticky and soft. Old grease normally gets hard. Just have to degrease everything and keep rebuilding.
