Many people have said they plan to lower the body when they build their new Hilux Highlifts.
I was just looking at some pictures of the new truck, and i think the front leaf springs will hit the front of the shell if you try and lower it. Does anyone who's seen the truck for real know if that's right?
I know its mounted that high to clear the battery holder, as the shell doesn't tilt, but i dont think lowering it would be possible at all! :omg:

I'm sure with some creativity it can be done, but with out having a truck to look at, it's hard to say how.
I'm guessing that most say they want to lower it due to the tire size in comparision to the wheel wells. If so RC4wd is about to release their tall 1.9s, the rockstompers. They are 4.25" tall. they should fill out the wells nicely

The body posts might come into question. The front body post has a stepped flange on an aluminum post that is held down via a screw on top of the hood. It may require some machining or another method to lower the mounting point.
I haven't attempted nor studied the idea long enough to provide a definite answer. I'll take a look Monday at work

I have a feeling the motor's going to hit the hood and/or windshield, too. You'd have to do a clocked motor plate, or maybe one of the cool aftermarket frames that are coming up.

I think the RC4WD rockstompers or 2.2's will be the way to go for that body for most people. If you were to keep the stock tires I would however work real hard at lowering the body. Anything is possible if you try.
