I built mine to tear up the backyard. The only stock parts are the frame, axle housings, and suspension.

Mine has been run, and hard at one time. Since the chassy and dive line are still stock (for the most part), I think this one might go back close to stock, unless it's something that is an easy bolt-on. I have other newer vehicles to run hard.

My Blazer is being rebuilt as a light runner. Painted frame with chromed tranny and axles.

Both my Hilux and Mountaineer are built to run. I have run my hilux about 5 times and my moutaineer about 15 times. They both run pretty cool but have some serious shortcomings. I ended up bending the front axle on my mounty. Parts cost an arm and leg to replace. So they rarely get run.
I built my juggerlux and was still in the process of perfecting it when tamiya announced the High lift.

My Mountaineer and Bruisers are all built to be ran. When I run them I do try to remember their age and the problem getting parts and do so not really lightly but I try to avoid things that will over tax their bendable parts.
That's also why my modified F350 High Lift goes along, hahaha! After calmly driving the oldies, it takes the abuse from those unavoidable "Hey, watch this!" moments.

Well I think that if we are talking about vintage, then the models are so expensive to run all the time. My experience with the new 350 is so good, obviously will be the same with the new Hilux, that doesn't worth to ruin a Bruiser or even an old Hilux. Anyway if you have a lot of them like some TC members  the go on.
I guess most of member here know me, I'm editor of an online magazine, but also I'm devoted to RC since 1982 when I bought...what???? a Hilux :Tamiya1:
The experience was so bad, I had driven a Kyosho and that monster had bad suspension...etc. Nowadays I love my two restored Hilux of course.
I have written an article about restoring
http://www.modelersite.com/PDF_Fotos_VIII/VintageTrucks.htm
Now I'm preparing the part 2 which will include, some techniques and tricks that I hope will be useful for modelers. Also I use all the money from my wallet to buy a MFC ( :sorry: wife ) and I have planned to apply in a Bruiser, with the new HIlux body, as I don't have a mountaineer. Also I will write about my experience and necessary changes will be necessary to do.
So restoring....for the shelf!!!!!

Right now im rebuilding to run and restoring. Stripped the paint off the moutaineer and pretty much put everything on the back burner till I get somemore money to buy parts. Also saving for the new hilux also. Pictures wont be up for awhile. rick-out
