Hi finished building my Hilux Highlift with MFU-02 it works fine but I'm having problems with the shift linkage. The servo will give too much throw and rip the ball connector off the shift linkage. I have tried shorter servo horn but then not enough throw to shift into gears and with longer servo horn will rip the rod apart again. What I need is EPA but my new Futaba 4 channel 4wd radio does not have that function. I been calling hobby shops that sell seperate EPA module or servo travel limiter that I can hook up to my servo but no one have hear of such thing and told me to get a different radio but that's not an option for me any other solutions?
thanks in advance.

You could try a servo saver, as when the shift has gone all the way, the saver will allow the server to continue its travel with out any "ripping out" issues.

check out the linkage pictures on a e-max as well, traxxas has collars and springs on the shift linkage so once the tranny is in gear the spring gives allowing the servo to not bind
or
find a higher end radio with end point adjustments :omg:

a) Change out the servo horn to one of the supplied horn from the servo package.
Mount the pivot ball closer to the center of the horn to reduce throw.
b) Mount the servo in the servo in the position shown in the instructions. It will angle the linkage, reducing the overall throw. The excess travel will be reduced further by the shift rod rotating one max travel is acheived.
c) Use a servo-saver or nitro throttle linkage with springs to allow the servo to travel without forcing the ball cups off the pivot balls.

If I hade the problems you describe I would go with Suprachrgd82's advice (a or b). That should do it.

Thanks guys and Suprachrgd82 !! problem solved.
move one notch closer to the servo and shorten the shift rod length a little than the instruction says.
also slightly tilt the tranny shift ball connector toward the inside of the truck and now it shift like a charm..

Sometimes (or actually most of the time) the solution is simple. There is seldom a need for complicating things.
Glad you got it sorted!
