Almost done!

This is definitely the most labor intensive non-lexan body I've done so far. So many little things....coloring the lights, painting the trim, filling holes and seams....

Having a hard time choosing between creatacrawler's 1.9 slotmags or the RC4wd truescale wheels. The slotmags match the wheels of the 70/80's trucks, but the Truescales match the Mountaineer.

The tailgate badge is from BruiserBuilder. Custom license plate courtesy of "The Wiz" from eBay

Anyone have tips on painting the black trim on the tail lights and silver trim on the grille?

Good tip! I'll be hunting down a sharpie tonight. So far I've tried liquid mask 2 times, and masking tape once, but getting the tail lights just right is not an easy task.

And, thanks all for the comments.

The goal, since the black chrome is almost impossible to get rid of without killing the normal chrome, was to match a paint job that would fit the style of a "black chrome build". Black chrome wasn't popular until the 90's, so the truck gets a 90's style paint job....

i used Tamiya paint marker or similar. Sharpie didn't work well for me as the black turns to reflective dark blue ..

The key was the Sharpie for the rear tail lights. I went over then 4 tyimes to get the black good 'n dark.

The grille was done with a Testors paint marker. It worked quite well to keep the edges of the silver sharp and straight. One contigious stroke and it looks like brushed aluminum.

Tamiya clear red and clear orange acrylic work well for coloring the lights. The orange with the yellow lenses give a nice color for the turn signals and side markers.

Good god, what a pain in the butt all the detailing is....in a good way.....

Now I await the arrival of RC4wd scale shocks, red boots and Rancho decals.

I couldn't resist the urge to build a Sung-Cap.

Starting with green foam from the arts/crafts store, I made a mold following the lines of the body. I made it slightly smaller to compensate for the thickness of the fiberglass.

I laid 3 layers of clothl, and 4 coats of resin. Now, I have this lumpy mess.

Next is to sand it all smooth and cut windows. I'm leaning towards a white paint job, as it will match the tribal graphics, and tailgate badge.

I used standard Tamiya paint for the black on tail lights. Works good, see:

Are you refering to my Triskells?

I just got them on the web, cleaned with Photoshop and printed on "Transparent sticker" for ink jet printer.

Simple...

Those are from ebay. try a search for "mini tamiya", and you'll find some interesting Japan-only toys.
