As you have posted your question here I presume you talk about the Tamiya Toyota4x4 Pickup (RA1028/58028) and not the High-Lift based Hilux? The former is commonly referred to as Hilux, which is confusing nowadays since few say High-Lift Hilux when that is what they mean.

Since you ask what you need I take it you are getting a NIB that you plan to build. As you already have two threespeders you have a working transmitter, I take it. You would, thus only need an extra receiver and three servos. Unless you plan on heavily modify your Hilux stock servos will cut it, even for the steering. Although, get a Futaba S3010/S3014 for the steering while you are at it. The Hilux does come with an transistorized ESC, that is servo controlled. You can use it, I do. Otherwise, get a Tamiya TEU-302BK/TEU-101BK or a mTroniks Viper series ESC. Something cheap and cheerful, you do not need more. Keep the stock motor as both hotter and real crawler motors might trash the gears.

The radio box can accept any modern stick pack so there are no worries in that respect. While you can ball race it I am not convinced it is the smartest thing to to. Why? Simply because spares are scarce and expensive, but that is up to you. These old gems should not see that much use.

Take the time and read Mr. Ko-ping Hu's excellent guide (www.kope.com/bruiser/TrannySvcManual.pdf) on ball racing/restoring the gearbox. What bearings you need for the rest of the car can checked against the manual, which is available in the Download section here on Tamiyathreespeed.com. Mr. Hu has some very interesting advice on his web site (http://www.kope.com/bruiser/) for those about to work on any of the "old or middle-aged" threespeeders. Old/senior would be the Toyota4x4 Pickup and middle aged the Bruiser and Mountaineer.

Or did you simply post in the wrong forum? If so, the answers are already provided for you as there are several threads discussing both ESC and transmitter recommendations for the High-Lift.

Finally - good luck with your build!
