Whats the best way to paint this

I filled some holes with some green Sqaudron putty and sanded it nice and neat.
How can I make sure the pain job looks as good as this ?

How many base coats (primer I suppose) will I need to make sure it looks good afterwards :What:

I intend to paint the body red btw.

And also, what is the best way to clean the body without damaging the putty ?

just wash with a soft sponge and dish soap. primmer, really on need to cover the thoroughly, usually 1 heavy coat or 2 lighter coats. Lighter coats is better. Then a few light coats of the red fallowed by a few light coats of clear.

what would cause the paint to crack , i had my van repainted about 5 years ago and know the roof is cracked and chiped also the clear coat on some parts are flaking of?

what paint did u use on the van? might be because of age? since its been 5 years, not sure though
