Hi all,

I am new here. I just got myself a HILUX, and Airtronics VG600 controller. I love it very much.

However, I need some help.

While steering and shift stick works correctly, the ESC only functions for 2nd gear only (forward & reverse).

However, 1st & 3rd gear works for only 1 second, even though the shift engages completely. Then the engine sound stops and transmission stop spinning. When I release the shift stick, the engine sound restarts again.

So the HILUX can only move on ground using 2nd gear. How do I make the 1st & 3rd gear to function properly?

Need help.

Are you sure it engages fully?
Try shifting it manually right on the trans with your hand, sounds like it is popping out because it's not adjusted right from servo to trans.
There is play with all the linkages through the mechanism box, you need to check it out. Download the manual from the downloads section and check everything out

Yes confirmed... I used my index finger to manually engage the 1st & 3rd gears, there is no problem with the transmission.

Using the servo, the shift linkage didn't get kicked out of the trans box. It engaged completely (both 1st & 3rd speeds). However, transmission runs for only 1 second. No more than that...

After that....
(1) The 540 silver-can motor stops functioning (resulting everything else drivetrain also stops).
(2) V8 engine sounds stops (complete silence, no engine idle sound).
(3) Upon release the shift stick, the engine sound restarts (Start Engine sound, at 2nd gear).

I think it has something to do with the MFC-02, but i really dont know what to do :(

I also noticed that the shift servo doesnt respond to trim settings. The shift linkage/horn moves to the max possible. So I dont really get to adjust travel/play, except by manually adjusting the length of the servo horn or shift linkage. Anybody using VG600? What can possibly go wrong?

ahhh your running the NEW hilux, not the original.

What's happening is the system is locking up because the shift servo is bound up.

Don't know that radio, but if you cannot adjust travel via the radio then you'll need to do it by using different servo horns. Try using some from the servo manufacturer rather than the tamiya kit ones. The servo ones have more options. (you want shorter ones)
