2 stick 4 chanell question

I just got a good deal on an Airtronics Vanguard 4 C that I am going to convert to ground freq. My question is, I think I should hook the tranny shift to the left stick but it has a return spring to it. Should I remove the spring? i think i should because the spring would keep shifting it back to 2nd. How do you guys hook it up? What works best for you?:omg:

My Futaba came with left stick none-spring centered (throttle, shifting) and the right stick sping centered (steering, horn etc.) which I swapped around. So my left stick now is spring centered, but has a gear shift plate

Thanks for your response. Do you think a shiftgate would be available? Maybe i'll try to make my own.:yourock:

Stellamodels can hook you up with a sweet looking shift gate. (rc4wd.com can to but it looks like they are sold out)

Just stick it on your radio with some double sided tape…
