Hi fellow 3 speeders, I've gone for the Tamiya TLU-01 and TLU-02 for lights on my High Lift as I'd heard some reasons not to go for the mfu, I'm now stuck as to what size dia leds I need can anybody help :Tamiya1:

It depends on if you got the F-350 or the Hilux?

Hi Pete359 its the F350 but I've also got hold of a set of hi lux fog lights from the bumper

The F350 uses mostly 5mm LED's with some 3mm ones in the turn signals and tail lamps as I recall. The roll bar lights are 5mm dia.

I think roll bar lights, fog light, head light are 5mm and turn signals 3mm.
On trucks the roof lamps are also 3mm ..

I've found the manual for the mfu on TamiyaUSA.com and it shows a Z part that holds the bulbs in the front bumper and a Z part that holds the lights in the rear panel. Also Tamiya do 5 leds for the roll cage as part of the mfu but you can only buy 2 leds as a seperate purchase. Having already purchased the tlu01 tluo2 and speed controller I think its a bit of a rip off that you cant buy the pieces seperately.

If you don't mind soldering, you can purchase 3mm & 5mm LED's from SUPER BRIGHT LEDs
:link:http://www.superbrightleds.com/leds.htm.
You can get them in White/Blue/Yellow/Green/Red and others that alternately blink between Red/Blue or Red/Green/Blue.
I've purchased some for use with the TLU-01 & 02 I'll be adding to my Bruiser.

Hi Chazell I've sorted the leds my only problem is how to fix them in place, I think I'm going to put a little bit of super glue around them.

Super glue would do the job, but you risk hazing the chrome/plastic finish. Have you considered using sheet plastic and cutting out your own retainers?

Mmmmm thats a good idea I'm just lazy and always looking for the easy way. I'll take a look at that avenue :Good Point:
