Did anyone notice the decline in people spending huge money on vintage Tamiya's?

Prior to the effects of the US economy I could sell a Sandscorcher for $600-$1000 on ebay. I see Bruisers and other vintage cars for going cheap (considering past $$$). Ok, bad example of the NIB hilux in the 4K range. But does anyone see that? :omg:

I've noticed a decline in the price of the Bruisers and Mountaineers since the new Hilux has come out, I think people are buying the new ones, makes sense as you can recreate the look of the vintage truck and have a reliable runner and access to spare parts for a fraction of the price. Anybody else notice the price of interiors has gone tru the roof? ( I am guilty myself I invested close to $1500 on my all original Bruiser in comparison to my "new" bruiser" the new hilux with Bruiser bed added with full lighting, sounds (MFU) for less than $1000.00) at least you can run the new one and not just leave it on the shelf collecting dust.

I have not noticed a huge decrease though. I think alot of the vintage three speeds for sale recently havn't been that nice so they are not fetching what they used to.

Yes, I agree, but when has there really been some "over the top" bruisers or Hilux's on ebay? Most of the ones that I see are parts cars or very ratty. How does a pile of Tamiya parts end up being worth as much? There is a good example right now where the bruiser is in a million parts and is coming close to a complete unit. I personally think the people are thinking twice before dropping high $$$$ on something that they might not get any use from. I spent a fortune on a globeliner with all the hop ups and now it sits on a shelf in the office. ;o(

I think the economy has had an impact on Tamiya prices. I just picked up a nice Mountaineer on Craigslist locally for $200 that was only ran a few times. The guy had it since new and even gave me the orig. box and receipt. He said he needed the cash bad and knew he could get a lot more for it on Ebay, but couldn't wait.

i have an old hilux 4x4
only the chassis is assembled
the clear parts and body are perfect has not been painted
only reason i have been concidering selling it is because i want an F350 and modify it
also need a small milling machine to make parts
i'm still unsure if should sell it because of the price i may get offered
i suppose if i were offered the right price, i'd be able to afford my new toys
lol

i have a new built bruiser with beautiful paintwork that i paid 1200 for on ebay then i got a partially assembled mountaineer for 1300 then spent another 1200 on chrome and paintwork. and i bought a mint nib mountaineer for 2700. now im afraid they will release the bruiser or mountaineer and my values will drop significantly, just like my srb's now that they are releasing the rough rider again and calling it the buggy champ.
