Hey guys how’s it going? This is my very first posting so please be nice to the rocky. I have two Night Haulers, one of which I plan on making some kind of project out of. I live in the US but I found on Utube and other websites that model trucking is huge in the UK. My problem is I’m having a hard time finding websites and magazines in English that cater to 1/14 scale model truckers. Sites that may have options or the parts I may need to really customize the thing (granted I have not made up my mind as to what kind of truck I’m going to build). Any help or even suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Try www.gardentrucking.com. There is a forum there that is all about the Tamiya and Wedico trucks and other 1/14th and 1/16th scale vehicles.

I’ve been to the gardontrucking.com site but I was not sure of the scale difference between 1/14 and 1/16. Unless I’m doing something wrong I was only able to find a few things on that site, they seem to focus in 1/16 scale. I’ve never seen a 1/16 truck in person or seen the two scale side by side to make a compression. How big of a difference are the two, are the parts interchangeable?

There is a marked difference when you have the trucks side by side but a lot of the access. will work for either scale truck. Ric carries some scale parts for the Tamiya semis. 1/16th scale semis are mostly made by Wedico and are VERY expensive. Basic static semi tractor will run you around $1000. That is why I went with Tamiya for my trucks. It is not unusual to see one of the Wedico trucks have a $2000 price tag by the time you add everything you want on it just for the tractor. I have seen some over $7000!!! for a full rig. Most of the access. on the site- chains, hooks, and other things look just as good on a 1/14th as they do on a 1/16th truck,
HTH!

:bump:Hello driver,I have one wedico & several tamiya big trucks. And I can tell you that the scale difference is pretty obvias. With that been said, you can't put the wedico rims on the tamiya's.But you can put the aluminum fuel tanks on them,as well as the fire extinguisher, wipers, headache rack, hood ornaments, peterbilt or freightliner emblems, chains & binders,c.b. antennas,& the checker plate ( aluminum ).Most of PMD's products just won't work with our tamiya's,but a lot will.Hope this helps with your dilema, good luck & keep on building those trucks.
