perhaps i have something wrong here....

i can do the first 2 steps no problem in setting up the transmitter and trim, but i cannot do the transmission teaching mode yet ( over time after i rip my hair out i will prob figure it out, but a helping hand would be appreciated)

i have defaulted the settings to factory (more than once, more like 4-5 times so far)

double checked all wiring including for correct servo plug ins

can anyone tell me switch per switch on the unit itself as well as the control unit exactly where my swirtches, settings are supposed to be ? i must have something set to the wrong place or something

i am near the last, or i thought, five minutes of completion on this - ready to fix the body on finally, and this is taking more time than anticipated.

i have routed all running wiring etc away from the vibration unit already (yes i had them too close to begin with)

thanks for any input, i am dying to get this thing completed, i gotta say, having the real thing, as per sound and light, is so much better than what you see on the videos of it in action...... very impressed so far and its not even driveable yet - like a kid in a candy store in awe back in the 1800's

wow, is this too technical ? i surely thought there may be someone who knows these systems here.... when i am done figuring this out i will be an expert at this system ........ heh heh

anyone over at tamiya have any ideas ? I am really in need of a bit of help here... i am sure your techs have tips more involved than the forum topics of how to switch on turn signals or false starts - trust me , i have looked far and beyond on the forum for my answer before asking for help.....

i am using the attack radio but put in aftermarket servos
i also put in a integy 55t motor, which i do not think is the problem

i am ready to change out the servos to the futaba ones out of the box with the attack , thinking maybe the system is upset at me for using something else, heh heh

honestly, any ideas are appreciated.........

it will not let me complte the last phase of training - transmission

as per my first post "i can do the first 2 steps no problem in setting up the transmitter and trim, but i cannot do the transmission teaching mode yet ( over time after i rip my hair out i will prob figure it out, but a helping hand would be appreciated)"

I am having difficulities, the engine is not supposed to sound up or it says it did not work (in the manual) , retried other first 2 steps, no prob, 3 rd step still a no go, defaulted many times

i am going to recheck all wiring ( for the 3rd time) maybe i still have something running too close to vibrator wire or running wires

i tried again last night and i am getting a shift servo 'glitching' effect

i know i am so close to the end, just going a bit nuts and only looking for some tips

appreciated !

not something wrong here, something wrong with factory labels (stickers, plug numbers) for the channel wires from mfc2 unit going to the recever - believe it or not, heh heh, they put the channel 2 sticker on the channel 3 wire and vise versa-

something i shoud have figured out a ways back when throttle was being controlled by 3rd chan stick
only other prob i have now is the reverse light/brake light comes on when in forward !!

i am sure the lgihting worked right the first test.... go fig, hopefully related to the channel mix up

i will try to reset/default if necessary

i will eventually be the human trouble shooter for this unit, story of my life - self taught with very little or no help at all....... heh heh

take care ! pics posted once a few more things are installed on this baby

and dont take me the wrong way, i am still in awe of this truck and the mfc2, not knocking it at all - next time i will be much more prepared

You need to revers the ch. on the trottle, and switch the wires on the motor.
Then the revers light comes on when in revers.

hey thanks for the help, i will do so today ! :yourock:

have another topic of help needed - the truck when tested a few short times had no prob shifting and running continuously, then over at a friends house - when trying to show him this thing in action, it stalled while just getting out of first and going into 2nd gear, then restarted , then again - stalled out and repeatedly kept stalling out with every attempt (including checking/changing batteries in case low levels were the cause and also defaulted the system and did every training procedure again) he and i were still impressed that it was so realistic it stalled and restarted just like the real deal), nonetheless, i need to inquire why it would be stalling out when i am trying to drive it around if anyone has any ideas at all

:sorry: for being a newb on this unit and asking so many questions, i know this is the best place to ask though as most of you have so much more experience and have gone through the trial and error/touble shooting this unit already

okay, no responses on this one... how about another method to assist everyone with mfu, mfc2, etc units

i am sure tamiya must have a master troubleshooting document they could post, if so, hows about a sticky for everyone that can be referenced for anything possible

not out of line i hope

although there is a small amount of info on many forums, no one site or anything i see has all the information everyone is asking for from time to time

thanks tamiya ! :Tamiya1:

looking forward to your assistance

still having a prob adjusting the trans to hold without stalling out.. readjusted in training mode, worked great for about 5 mins of run time then stalling again, def a prob with the trans holding its position, so my question is why ??

any tips, tricks appreciated !!

you all know the value of this unit, and i expect it to work or expect some feedback, especially from the tamiya main guys on the site (the ones actually working for tamiya, as i would anticipate they have all the answers and if not they could look into it especially being the ones more involved than us)

it's only been well over than a few weeks (actually more than a month) since i first inquired a resolution to this problem. so dont take these words as being too demanding due to the timeline of the response(s) I have received (which is nil)
Least i would have hoped to have seen was that someone was working to help resolve the issue. It may be something I did, maybe lubed the shaft too much, etc, possibly something else I did.

if i am asking the solution to the prob in the wrong place (on this forum, the reknown experts in this category i am told ), at least have the courtesy to let me know who to contact, if they cant resolve, then i will have to return the close to 500 canadian dollar product that no one seems to know anything about

:sorry: for being blunt on the matter:
i still buy tamiya no matter what for now anyways, just did the new CR01 Chassis (landy build) so dont think I am not loyal - i have 5 tamiya products on my bench right now, i just would like to see some help on this matter.
I have put well over 1300 bucks into this thing and am starting to think i should have just 4 linked this kit and ran an after market esc and electronics system without all the bells and bling i paid for. I would have and could have been running this truck by now . Somebody prove me wrong - please , if it is something i did i will man up out loud and take responsibilty for it
:Tamiya1: still rocks to date........ now please see if you can help out on something I need assistance on, - on one of your great products...

I just installed my mfc02 in my hilift today, I have not recieved my radio yet so It has only been tested in demo mode. When I did the setup on the mfc01 in my semi I found that all the trims had to be set in the neutral position and you could not have any of the servos reversed in order for it to accept the initial setup program. I will play around with my mfu02 tonight and see if I can tell what is causing your problem, dont despair help is here.
I noticed you are in Squamish, I am in Vancouver every couple months, if you cant figure it out perhaps we could hook up and I will give you a hand with it.

When you say it stalls, does the truck stop moving/staying in gear or is it just the sound?

I would double check the battery to make sure its fully charged.

You were saying you had to swich a few things around, like reversing the wires. And like Mr Fish said, you need to have everything hooked up correctly, your trims set in the neutral position and then go through the programing setup. If you haven't done that since you have changed things around, then I would start from the beginning.

usually wehn it stops and starts up again is when your battery is about dead. you said you charged it but just for arguments sake, try a different fully charged battery.

been a WHILE.. heh, heh

and its been sitting pert on my shelf so to speak

i got so busy at work and so , so many new build'athons i just now, in the last few weeks have pulled this beauty off the shelf.... determined once again.

first off, since the last action on this....

i pulled it apart to check motor function, put in a spare motor i had, but foolishly - although the 'spare' i had was ridiculously tight (almost non turnable when rotating it) , i proceeded. i have def learned alot in the last few years with so many diff types of rcs (since my first post on this) that it does appear i have determined the following (no not much new, heh heh)

1) new batt/ charged up (Duh) - no more stalling (1st batt i used originally - also no more stalling)
2) tx training/trim training went great - this ain't rocket science (and once i installed the spare (prior to training again) i actually had reverse movement (it ran in reverse - dont ask me why i didnt try forward, heh heh but it doesnt/did not work)
3) double checked and re-routed all wiring (clean and move the vibe and speaker even further away from running wires than what i had done originally - it was more than sufficeint prior, but nonetheless)
4) tranny training went off without a hitch BUT, no action (movement) F or R - right now im betting its the motor (1st bet), next bet is - you may have guessed it ; im gonna pull the tranny out (the first thing on the build, the last one to rip apart off the build no less) to check for binding - i believe it is binding up somewhere as although the tranny training mode was sucessful - when i revert back to wanting to drive it - " no movy" period

unless soemone else has experienced this enough to comment on it with the miracle/simple solution - im gonna rip 'er apart to check all gearing - might need some more 'vaseline' heh heh

i need to hurry and complete this so i can move onto my next few build'athons and shelve this in glass case at my lhs (too nice to run - yikes !!!)

first impression was the motor, it was pooched from the factory; yes i shoulda/coulda/woulda known better... hehheh

the good news is i have quite a few stock 540 cans laying 'round - i took the mabuchi out of my old vintage marui shogun (it was the smoothest... rotation wise) no need for further diagnosis on my tranny - it lit right up !! prob solved

now im working on the insufficient steer servo replacement .. the futuba servos with the attack are good for shift servo but when it comes down to steering it, knotta/no wy with this much weight , heh heh - slapping in something a bit beefier (got more than a few hitecs laying round for donation out of one of my crawlers, heh heh)

there were / was some good insights/suggestions from a few here but what it eventually boiled down to was gut instinct / eventual personal experience on these 3 speeds/mfc 02 uints - ive learned the hard way , heh heh - im doing so much more to this baby now that its rolling on power

thx again for your tips
