Have a Tamiya 3spd in an 6-8 scale project truck. Bought the tranny used. Believe it has the stock pinion and spur.

What pitch is this - 32P?
What Spurs are available? Will spurs from other kits fit this? Where to buy - cannot seem to find them?
What pinions are avaiable?

Running a Hacker 1100kv outrunner. Stock spur is fine, but would like to go smaller, but spinning outrunner will start to rub tranny case.
Looking for 2-3 tooth smaller then stock spurs, need 5mm shaft hole. RC4WD.com has a 15T 32P 5mm.

Thanks for any help.

If you find out, let me know. I would also like to experiment with different spurs and pinions.

Std truck is 32 dp 10 pinion 36 spur

Hilift is 32 dp , 16 pinion 54 spur.

tamiya used a few pinion pitches, as far as i know;

Xr311
King tiger
Hilux (old) 32DP

XC / CC01 0.6 mod (metric)

TRF 0.4mod

It would be good to have a complete list including Kyosho's pitches

Hello fellow 3speeders, I work for a gearcutting company and we specialise mainly in one offs. We have got 32dp cutters and would be able to machine them but this is a :link: to a company I've come across over the years http://www.hpcgears.com/ and here is a :link: to their pages regarding 32dp pinions http://www.hpcgears.com/newpdf/spurgears_32dp.pdf they have a bore size of just over 3mm so that could be opened out to 5mm very easier they also do mod pitches :Tamiya1:

Hpc? thats how I know what pitch they are.
Picked up their catalogue a few years ago, and it has a pitch guide on each page.
Never used them , but will be soon

If I want over a 56 tooth count on the spur, HPC looks like it fits a 6mm shaft size. I will have to look, but does anyone know off the top of their head what shaft size is on the High Lift Box for the spur?
They sure have a lot. Do not need steel quite yet. So shaft size and how the slipper bolts up needs to be figured out.

What is the advantage of staying with 32P. If I am replacing the spur with non-Tamiya parts, I will dig around for a 48P Spur, that way I can buy 7-24T Pinions on Ebay, Tower, local hobby shop.

What is the advantages of 32 vs. 48P? 48P is new standard on 75% of what comes out, especially electric.
Is 32P better for torque applications because of the depth of each tooth area?

thx

I am in the same boat, I started using my hilift for pulling but the slipper is killing me. I have plans drawn up to mount a hub and spur to this. This would give me more options for gearing. ALso, I would use 32 p for the strength of the tooth. This is the part I am not sure of. The 48p would give more surface are, so I am wondering if that would be strong and provide better mesh.
