I've been in the hobby for about 12 years or so and always wanted a king hauler , finally purchased one and figured i'd get a Castle creations side winder (big mistake ) now the rear tires (all of them spin ). It gets scary ass **** in third gear for some reason i punch the throttle in that gear and it goes side ways.Does anybody else use a brushless system ? I know the ESC i have is programmable so i'll try to see what i can do with the settings. The big question is can i solder the fail safe i have inline with the esc cable to the rx ? I really don't want the fail safe to get unplug do to viberation, especailly with the speed it is capable of.

Making a race truck? Sounds insane fast.

Sorry, I don't have an answer to your questions.

Not really just kinda went over kill on the motor system , i don't know how people can actually race these things i flip it as soon as i even think of making a turn , can't get on the brakes full on cause the rear locks up and it's all over after that. .I haven't even put the body on yet for fear of damage, i spent to much time on it.

Personally I would downgrade the whole motor/ESC.

Semi trucks are meant to be slow and low end torque. I would look into a 35T lathe motor.

I know of one gentleman from Canada who has a brushless system in his semi. It goes nice and slow with lots of torque. I have no idea what motor or speed control he is using though. I would think he is on this forum as he is a big Tamiya semi fan who makes it to the Indy RC truck show each year. Wish I could be more help to you

Then maybe it is just a matter of programming. Sorry I can't be of more help too. I hope others will post

Maybe he runs a goat brushless motor?

I think 35T will be too fast.
I tryed 80, 75 and 65 in my Kinghauler.
80T gives you awesome torque, but you get the best combo with 65T.

What motor do you run with the Castle creations side winder?
You even flips with the stock motor if you turn fast.

to slow down, there are gear reduction that you can get
you can get one in the drive line and there's also one for between the motor and transmission
these will reduce speed
i think you can get them in 4:1 ratio and a couple others

Hi!
I use a Integy 35t in two of my trucks.. its calmed them down a lot, without losing too much speed... and its about the cheapest way of reducing the speed.

reduction boxes:
there's a 2.5:1 that goes between the motor and the gearbox,
gardentrucking has a 4:1 that goes in the the driveline, a bit pricey, but it does come with heavy-duty universal shafts...
I use a 3:1 planetary on the output of the gearbox, and then custom made universal shafts to the diffs. I havent found another one of those for sale anywhere.. but r2hobbies has a 3.7:1... some modifications are needed to make it work..the gearbox's output shaft has to be machined down to 3.17mm, and the redux's ouput machined down to 5mm, and custom length prop shaft.

motors:
stock motors will give a spin of about 18000 revs when connected directly to a 6 cell pack.
a 35t will give a spin of 10000 revs... still quick, but a lot more manageable.
if you want to go slower, you might want to use a motor with a spin of about 6000 revs.. either a 75t, or a 'truckpuller' motor...
all these spin speeds are no load, with the battery connected straight to the motor, just for comparison.

brushless:
most brushless motors are going to spin far too fast, but I have found one that would suit: a 1200kv from bidproduct.com. not compatable with the mfc-01, being brushless, but with that low spin speed it wont draw very much current so a light-weight 25-30A (brushless) esc will work ok.
on a 6 cell pack, that will give a spin speed of (max) 10000 revs.

(I'm using a 1966kv and a 3:1 on my roadtrain puller... www.youtube.com/rcroadtrain)

hope all this helps!!

Actually got the castle link awhile ago ( been busy ) turns out you can tone it down quite abit I have it at the lowest timing , and the punch control is set low and the throttle map is completely concave on the graph. I also bought a traxxas vxl 3s BL package for my hpi blitz I think i'm gonna swap out the 4,600kv with a more manageable 3500 kv.
